STAYING IN
CONTROL
"A nonsmoker for
Life"
Staying quit for good will be easier if
you think of yourself as a "nonsmoker" rather
than an "ex-smoker".
What's
the difference?
*
Ex-smokers see themselves as smokers who are
just not smoking today. Smoking is an
option which they refuse every day. *
Nonsmokers make a decision once and for all
that smoking is not an option. They don't
have to struggle with a new decision every day. They may
feel an urge to smoke now and then, but
their self-image simply does not allow
smoking anymore.
What if you don't feel like a
nonsmoker right away?
* Even though
you're doing the things nonsmokers do, you may not feel like
a nonsmoker right away - it can take a
while for your mind to catch up with
your actions.
What can you do to start feeling
like a nonsmoker?
* Remember that being
a nonsmoker is your natural state. You were born
a nonsmoker, and you can be a nonsmoker
again. * Think of other times when your self-image
changed. Some common examples are
leaving school, getting married, having kids, changing
careers, having grand kids and retiring.
Going through any one of these may have felt awkward
at first, but gradually you adopted a
new self-image. Becoming again a
nonsmoker is exactly the same
process. * Arrange your daily life so that cigarettes
don't "fit in" anymore. * Tell yourself that smoking
is not an option in any situation. * Refer to
yourself as a nonsmoker regularly. * Picture yourself
five or ten years from now as a nonsmoker. Hold onto
that positive
image.
The POWER of positive
thinking
It's the power of "your" positive
thinking that will get you through rough patches in your quest
of maintaining your commitment to remain a "non-smoker".
Positive thoughts and a positive attitude are the main
ingredients that will empower you and help you to be
successful in a much more comfortable manner. Tell
yourself: I know I can do this!; A craving
will be gone in seconds, I know how to distract myself until
it goes away, I have the tools to make it go away, I'm a
nonsmoker thank you very
much.
Think
Positive
Negative thinking will lower your
self-confidence and will get in your way if you allow it. You
should be on guard and AVOID these common
types of negative thinking.
Memories of
smoking
Don't get stuck longing for the "good
old days" of smoking. Instead, think about what you are going
to gain: more energy, easier breathing, more money in your
pocket, not smelling like a dirty ashtray, no bad breath, a
better looking complexion because of better circulation and so
can you go on for a while.
Crisis
situations
Smoking won't help you deal with a crisis
or help you feel better, or make a crisis go away. It's contrary
to the fact, simply because there are "healthy ways" to
cope with times of
crisis.
Self-doubt
You're most
likely to think that you "just can't do it" when you're tired
or under stress. Focus on all that you're doing right.
It's normal to think
you'll feel better if you smoke, but you will feel worse,
believe me I've been there. And let me remind you of a writing
on an earlier page:
"Over years of
smoking, your body has been trained into feeling that
smoking is relaxing, because without nicotine you begin to
feel nervous and anxious. This learning process becomes so
ingrained into your body and mind that it takes time to learn
how to cope with stress without smoking a cigarette.
Truth of the matter however is this: A smoker's
brain does no longer produce the so called feel good chemicals
naturally and here's why; It's called the forced chemical
overproduction of the "dens" factor (dopamine,
endorphins, norepinephrine and serotonin), which creates
a chemical imbalance that the brain must attempt to regulate,
which it does by "stopping" the automatic time release of
these chemicals in an attempt to control the
overproduction. The body now relies purely on the
trigger substance Nicotine to manipulate the brain to
release these feel good chemicals. It is a vicious cycle in
such that a smoker is in this endless loop of
behavior/addiction and addiction/behavior, with unfortunately
the physical dependence being the lesser of the two
evils".
Same "wake-up" call applies to the; oh
"I'll just have one" test. Don't let your brain
trick you into thinking that you can have "just one". If
you're really off cigarettes (and you are), you have nothing
to prove.

From: Drunky To: Laser
Solutions 10/09/2008 I
quit smoking 4 weeks ago thanks to Laser Solutions. I have
tried before without laser treatment and this was the easiest
way for by far to quit. I recently ran a 5k and it felt
awesome to be able to breathe again. The laser treatment is
quick and easy and actually is super relaxing. I also feel
comfortable knowing that I can go back any time this year in
case I have a craving. But so far I have barely thought about
it. I would recommend anyone who seriously wants to quit
smoking to go to Laser Solutions. If it worked for me it can
work for anyone. Tom Vann AKA Drunky the
