NICOTINE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS

How to deal with nicotine withdrawal.

Most of our clients do not experience the pain and discomfort associated with quitting smoking. However, some do experience slight to moderate withdrawal symptoms. Use this information to help you if you do have any of the symptoms below. Remember that these symptoms are temporary and are a sign your body is on the road to recovery.

Irritability/anxiety.

*  Irritability from nicotine withdrawal will lessen over time.
*  Tell your family and friends that his may be a rough time and ask
them to be patient. Remind them and yourself, that this is a
temporary symptom and you are doing something great for
    yourself.
*  Take 10 deep breaths to clear your mind. Picture something
or someplace relaxing and envision yourself there.

Craving a cigarette.

*  Have a Minute Mint. They are specifically formulated to stop
your cravings and to help keep you calm.
*  Remember the craving will pass quickly.
*  Distract yourself immediately. Take a quick walk, call a friend,
or read your list of why you quit smoking.

Coughing/dry throat.

*  Coughing and other similar symptoms are signs that your body is
healing itself. Smokers bodies create extra mucous to help get
rid of the toxins from cigarettes. When you stop smoking, your
body stops making this mucous. As you adjust to this change,
you may need to cough or clear your throat.
*  These symptoms will usually go away in a few days.
*  Drink plenty of water. It will ease your dry throat and coughing
as well as flush the toxins out of your body.
*  Take a Minute Mint. They will help relieve your throat while
helping to reduce any stress you may feel.

Sleepless nights (insomnia)

*  Nicotine can affect how deeply you sleep. Some people
experience difficulty falling asleep or may not sleep as heavily.
Dreaming about smoking is also common.
*  Before going to sleep drink warm milk or decaffeinated tea.
*  Do some deep breathing exercises or take a hot bath for
    relaxation.

Feeling tired.

*  Nicotine is a stimulant, which means that your body speeds up.
Feeling tired is your body's reaction to not having this nicotine.
Your energy will increase as you get used to the effects of not
    smoking.
*  Tiredness typically happens in the afternoon. Try to plan
activities that keep you energy level high. Take a brisk walk
around the office if you are at work. The extra oxygen will give
    you a boost of energy.
*  Avoid foods high in sugar. Try to eat foods high in protein.

Depression.

*  Some ex-smokers say that stopping smoking is like losing a
friend. It is okay to feel a bit down. Allow yourself to feel.
*  Remind yourself that you haven't really lost anything. You've
gained health, extra money, and the respect of your peers.
*  Go outside and get fresh air and some sun. Sunlight is a natural
    mood elevator.
*  Physical activity will help reduce any negative feelings.

Constipation.

*  Constipation may occur for a brief period after you stop smoking.
It typically goes away within a week or two.
*  Eat more whole grains, fruits and vegetables.
*  Drink plenty of water. It is important to keep your body well
hydrated during the first few weeks after you quit smoking.

I quit smoking 4 weeks ago thanks to Laser Solutions. I have tried before without laser treatment and this was the easiest way for by far to quit. I  recently ran a 5k and it felt awesome to be able to breathe again. The laser treatment is quick and easy and actually is super relaxing. I also feel comfortable knowing that I can go back any time this year in case I have a craving. But so far I have barely thought about it. I would recommend anyone who seriously wants to quit smoking to go to Laser Solutions. If it worked for me it can work for anyone.
